Disagreements at home
There's been lots of disagreements at home last week over the issue of weaning. On the one hand, both his grandmas and bbsitter are eager to get him to follow the old-fashioned chinese way of being able to eat every imaginable type of porridge as long as it's ground and gruel-like looking by the time he hits six months. Have been getting them to see my point that reality just doesn't permit that. Hence, on the other hand, I am really insisting that he follows the one new food per three day thing. If I had the choice, I would of course be getting him to start on the safer fruits and baby foods first before venturing onto cooked semi-solids.
It's very sad and astonishing for a baby who's as hypersensitive as him to have been exposed to so much nonsense when he's only turning 6 months old today!!! Babies should really be exclusively breastfed for the first half year of their lives. Think the family has been causing him more harm than good with all their senseless and inconsiderate doings.
I thought I would include a breakdown here of all the stuff that he's ever tasted and reacted to (in terms of allergies like getting sore eyes, red patches on his face, rashes on his body, and irritability):
1. Mashed papaya with breastmilk - no reaction
2. Ground brown rice - no reaction (dislikes it)
3. Mashed banana with breastmilk - no reaction
4. Bread bits (mouthed it) - no reaction
5. Mango cake (mouthed it) - minor reaction
6. Watermelon (mouthed it) - major reaction
7. Gerber banana puree - no reaction (dislikes it)
8. Nestle rice cereal with breastmilk - no reaction
9. Carrot from adult's soup - minor reaction
10. Carrot cooked seperately for him - no reaction
11. Porridge with fish and carrot - undetermined as he took less than a tablespoon (dislikes it)
12. Dumex rice cereal with breastmilk - major reaction
13. Potato from adult's soup - minor reaction
14. Ice-cream (mouthed it) - minor reaction
15. Rice + potato + carrot + kailan (ground and mashed) - minor/major reaction
16. Gerber applesauce - minor reaction
Was extremely angry with the entire family last week, cos no. 13-15 were fed to him conveniently on the occasions that I had to stay late in the office. It's been a few days since, and I'm not angry with them anymore. I just hope that they have the good sense to exercise caution and restrain in weaning Kaizer in future.
